On a per-share basis, the Cranbury, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 38 cents.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 42 cents per share.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $223.1 million, or $2.01 per share.
